What is a commercial accelerator?

We help startups by focussing on sales and call it ‘commercial acceleration’. Traditional accelerators are typically fixed term programmes that help you hone various business skills and then present you to the investor community at a demo day. We assume you’ve got these key skills and are hungry for the next phase, which is to scale. It’s our job to accelerate you to that first million in recurring revenue faster and can guarantee investors will be knocking on your door when we’ve got it right.

Why focus on sales?

Because business is all about customers. And customer traction is measured in sales! Sales sales sales. And again. Sales. Get the engine right and it will uncover all the other aspects of the business that need support, and of course we’ll get you through those as they come up.

Do you invest?

Yes. £50-250k normally. And we work with partners that can help bring more capital to your business when it is required.

Do you take equity?

Yes, normally 2-10% depending on our agreement and what’s right for you. We also charge a monthly service fee and commission on new sales that we generate to create commercial reality within the business. Obviously the deal needs to work and can’t suffocate the business or we’ve missed the point entirely.

How long is the program?

We’d like to get you VC friendly in 12-24 months. It will last until we have comfortable proof of scale and around £80k MRR.

When do we graduate?

When we’ve secured series A investment, your sales engine, product and people are in growth mode and the engine is humming. You’ll know when it’s time to move on as we’ll become redundant to you. We’ll still be around and as involved as you need us to be, but ultimately you’re ready for your next phase of business.

Do we need to work from your offices?

No, but we do need to spend time together regularly. Enough to support but not so much we get in your way.

How many startups in the program?

We work with no more than 6 at any one time, and stagger intake to focus on you when you need us most. There is no prescribed start or end date.

What’s in the program?

Whatever you need to scale and get to £1m revenue. Each program is built around you. Typically this will be one or two business development specialists, plus operational, development and support services.

Are you any good?

Yes. So the real question is can we be GREAT together. Can we get results together. We start with a zero-risk way of exploring a working relationship.

What if it doesn’t work?

We run an initial pilot to see if we’re a good match and we’re free to divorce at any time if the relationship goes south. The commercials are all agreed up front so no surprises.
